Open-Source groupware/collaboration solutions

0

I just thought I would share this with everyone…

While setting up a new project the other day I decided I needed a groupware/collaboration solution to help manage it and the people working with me. So I did some searching and was happy to see a healthy number of open source solutions. After a quick trial of Feng Office (http://z4p.me/zkaP) and Collabitive (http://z4p.me/r6nL) we found Feng Office to be the best solution for us. Collabitive had a very nice looking interface but had bugs in some of it’s basic operations which meant it was a definite no-go!

After using Feng Office for the last few days I have to say I am pretty impressed. All functionality works well out of the box. Navigation is easy as is managing different workspaces and users etc. My one gripe is the basic ugly interface and although the navigation is easy it sometimes doesn’t quite work how we’d expect. That said Feng Office is a great solution for group working/collaboration!

Note: Another solution worth looking at is EGroupware (http://z4p.me/76qI). Unfortunately we couldn’t trail this as it could not be installed on my Linux hosting due to some of the pre-requisites. Hopefully I will get chance to play with EGroupware in the future as it does look like a very comprehensive solution.
